This key team member plans, develops, coordinates, and leads large-scale energy design projects or manages multiple smaller projects with complex and diverse components.
The Project Engineer supports and collaborates with the Project Manager and/or Senior Engineer. This role contributes technical design expertise and develops project plans that help the team meet overall goals and objectives. The ideal candidate is a flexible and adaptable team contributor with strong communication and client-focused relationship skills. Work is primarily performed in an office environment, with occasional travel to project sites and client meetings as needed. General tasks associated with this position include the following:
- Supervises the execution of projects that may include gas and oil pipelines and station construction, development of P&ID’s, site layout design, grading, and erosion control measures selection and placement.
- Prepares proposals, schedules, and cost estimate for energy projects.
- Arranges and completes the technical design concept of the project based upon instructions from Sr. Engineers.
- Prepares project design. Assigns detailed tasks while providing technical oversight and assistance to project team members.
- Reviews design drawings for accuracy and ensure quality control (QC) standards have been met.
- Participates in client management activities as well as supports proposals and marketing activities.
- Provides communications, letters and e-mails to appropriate personnel on the status of the project.
- Initiates permitting through appropriate Federal, State and Local agencies while staying attuned to any additional permitting needs for the proposed activities.
- Prepares bid documents containing technical specifications, design drawings, and contractual terms and conditions.
- Manages project task scheduled.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Education/Experience Qualifications:
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field from an accredited institution
- Experience with federal, state, and local permitting
- Engineer in Training Certificate
- PE (Preferred but not required)
- 3+ years of energy, facility/industrial process piping, or oil/gas pipeline related experience
- 3+ years’ experience with AutoCAD
- Experience with Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and Microsoft Projects or equivalent project scheduling software
- Experience with Bluebeam
